The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) is pleased to announce that, effective July 1, the Society’s Combat Casualty Assistance (CCA) Visiting Nurse Program will transfer to the Semper Fi Fund.

Arlington, VA, Wednesday, May 1, 2019 (PRWEB) – The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) is pleased to announce that, effective July 1, the Society’s Combat Casualty Assistance (CCA) Visiting Nurse Program will transfer to the Semper Fi Fund. When NMCRS launched the CCA Visiting Nurse Program in 2006, it was the first program offering free, in-home visitations to America’s combat-injured Sailors and Marines.

“For nearly 100 years, we’ve provided registered nurses to make in-home visitations at no charge to active duty and retired Sailors, Marines, and their families. In 2006, realizing the need for specialized support, we were the first to launch a program for our Nation’s combat-served Sailors and Marines returning home with physical, psychological, and emotional injuries. In the years that followed, others joined the call to care,” said Admiral Steve Abbot, President and CEO, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. “Today, we are proud to transfer this important Program to the Semper Fi Fund, so this important work will grow beyond America’s Navy and Marine Corps service members to begin providing visiting nurse support to America’s entire military family, including those who serve in the Army, Air Force, and Coast Guard.”

“With the CCA Visiting Nurse Program in the capable hands of the Semper Fi Fund, the Society will refocus its resources to meet our core mission of providing need-based financial assistance, budget counseling and personal financial management education to America’s active duty and retired Sailors, Marines, and their families. We will also continue to provide free, in-home visiting nurse services to young Navy and Marine Corps families, chronically ill service members, their dependents, widows, and retirees in need of support,” Abbot continued.

Moving the CCA Visiting Nurse Program to the Semper Fi Fund ensures continuity of client care and allows visitation by registered nurses to any service member who meets the Semper Fi Fund’s criteria. Currently, a vast majority of the Society’s CCA clients already receive financial assistance and other support from the Semper Fi Fund.

“The Semper Fi Fund provides lifetime support to combat wounded, critically ill and catastrophically injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. Inheriting the CCA Visiting Nurse Program is perfectly in line with our mission. We are grateful to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society for allowing us to adopt this program,” said Karen Guenther, Semper Fi Fund President, “We will invest in growing the CCA Visiting Nurse Program and expanding our service to care for more of America’s military and their families.”

In 2018, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society provided more than $43.4 million in emergency financial assistance to 51,000 active duty and retired Marines and Sailors in need. Staffed by less than 200 employees and more than 4,300 volunteers, the Society operates 51 full service offices located on major USN and USMC installations, and more than 200 emergency service offices on ships and bases around the globe.
