Dan Cnossen was serving as a Navy SEAL platoon commander in Afghanistan when he stepped on an improvised explosive device and lost both legs. Cnossen underwent 40 surgeries over the next few years in a fight to stay alive and readjust to civilian life.During his rehab, Cnossen was introduced to cross-country skiing and the Paralympics program. He became enthralled with the sport and earned a spot on Team USA for the 2014 Games in Sochi.”It’s been a wonderful journey,” said Cnossen, “and I could not be more happy and proud that I stumbled on the Paralympic program and specifically cross-country skiing after my injury.
