Team Semper Fi Vets Challenge Themselves with Three-day Outdoor Pursuits Camp
Who: Nineteen service members from the Semper Fi Fund’s Team Semper Fi Program take on new challenges in their recoveries to explore the outdoors in the Colorado Rocky Mountains of Telluride.
WHAT: The second annual outdoor pursuits camp with Telluride Adaptive Sports Program in the beautiful Telluride, Colorado. Service members will spend three days receiving an introduction to the outdoors and sports the outdoors offers for a new challenge. These incredible, inspiring athletes will build more than just skills at this unforgettable event — they’ll also leave with camaraderie, confidence and life-long bonds with their fellow teammates.
Day 1: Vertical Challenge Day. Service members will go through climbing ground school and skill introduction, then climb a vertical rock area. The second half of the day will be Tyrolean traverse over a waterfall, river and gorge.
Day 2: Life Aquatic Day. Service members will be whitewater rafting one of the local rivers if the water is flowing. If not, then they will experience a day on the Ridgeway State Park Reservoir kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.
Day 3: High Roller Adventure Day (mountain biking). Service members will learn basic mountain bike skills and ride local scenic trails.

WHY: “Recovery Through Sport” has proven to be an ideal outlet for injured service members to hone both physical agility and mental focus, skills that are critical to navigating their recovery. Learning and practicing alongside fellow wounded service members, they can also trade stories, share strategies for coping with their injuries, and forge lasting friendships.
