Ingrid Gray, native of Berlin, Germany, became an American citizen in 1968 when she married a U.S. diplomat. She has traveled to many corners of the world, experiencing foreign lands and cultures. Her passion is hiking and some of the lands she has trekked through are Germany, Austria, Switzerland, India, Peru, Egypt, Iceland, and Hawaii.
Since her daughter married a U.S. Marine, 1st Sgt Russell Donaldson, back in 1996, Ingrid has learned about the sacrifices our military go through on a daily basis. She has helped take care of 2 grandkids during her son-in-law’s 5 deployments. She saw the stress and anxiety on her daughter’s face. She was there when phone calls came in at midnight with emergency updates about the deployed unit. And she read the news of fallen Marines from her son-in-law’s unit.
Ingrid has joined the efforts of Semper Fi Fund to raise funds for injured service members while doing what she likes best, hiking through various spots around the world. Please support this fit and active grandma in her quest by hiking the Maler Weg (http://www.malerweg.de), Germany for 112 Km from May 14 – 21, 2011!
