Metrowest Marine Corps League Det #1037 Presentation
Sep 8, 2011 @ 10:00 am - 10:30 pm
Quantico, VA — Members from the Metrowest Marine Corps League (MCL) Detachment #1037 of Natick, MA will be presenting a donation to the Semper Fi Fund on September 8 at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.
For the past four years, the Metrowest MCL has been assisting wounded warriors through donations. They have also worked with the Marine Corps’ Wounded Warrior Regiment to make sure wounded Massachusetts Marines were taken care when they returned home.
Thank you Metrowest MCL for taking care of Marines! The Semper Fi Fund is honored to receive your support!
A brief history of Metrowest MCL:
The Detachment was sworn in on-board the USS Constitution in Boston Harbor on 21 January 2000. Fifty-two Marines were sworn in that day even as the wind chill reached forty degrees below zero! All of the members enduring the weather because they are proud to be Marines. Among them were Marines that served on Iwo Jima, the Chosen Reservoir, Vietnam and in peacetime.
Since then they have been involved in many public and private events. The month after the Detachment was sworn in they hosted Iwo Jima Day in Boston — an event they were proud to be involved in. The following year they hosted their first golf tournament.
Over the years we have raised thousands of dollars and give it back to the community and Marines in need of assistance. They have been giving out six, $1,000 scholarships each year to high school students in Metrowest communities. They also support the local Young Marine program with a $1,000 contribution each year.
