Keith Friend was a man who loved his family and country. He served his country as an Army Airborne Ranger with the 1/506th Recon unit in Vietnam. A recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, he was a very quiet and humble man regarding his service. After Vietnam, he left the Army to pursue several successful businesses.

During the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, Keith would visit the Wounded Troops at the Camp Lejeune hospital. He would take them coffee and donuts, and just sit and talk with them. This was also a healing process for him as well.

Keith’s strong connection with the combat wounded inspired him to plan a charity golf tournament that would aid and support our local Wounded Service Members. In Keith’s memory and keeping Keith’s vision and wishes alive “The Keith Friend Memorial Foundation” was established, to say in a very special way, that we will never forget what our friends, neighbors, service members and their families have given and sacrificed so we can live in this strong, free and beautiful America.
