Enter Sandbag Challenge
Apr 29, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Lido Beach, NY – Kyle Finnerty served in the Marine Corps and now, as a civilian, he is planning the second annual Enter Sandbag Challenge to help raise funds for Semper Fi Fund and our wounded, ill, and injured members of the US Armed Forces. To support Kyle and his efforts, please visit his fundraising page.
In 2015, Kyle hosted the inaugural Enter Sandbag Challenge. The challenge met expectations in that competitors were tested physically and mentally and no one walked away thinking it was easy. The winning team finished in just under 50 minutes, with the last team coming in just under an hour. This year, on April 29, Kyle will be hosting the 2nd, and now annual event, in Long Beach, NY. The 2017 version is bigger and better. First, the event is moving out of the backyard and down to the beach. Participants can expect the weight of the sandbag to be upped from 30 to 35lbs. There will also be some updates to the exercises and the amount of running, partially to keep the event fresh, and partially to accommodate for running on the sand. Up to fifteen 2-person teams will compete in the event this year.
The Enter Sandbag Challenge is meant to serve as a reminder of the hard work and sacrifice our military regularly endures. The 35lb sandbag is a nod to the excess weight, both figurative and literal, that those in the Armed Forces continuously bear on our behalf. 100% of the money raised by this event will go towards the Semper Fi Fund, benefitting wounded veterans from all branches of the military. The process is fast, easy, and secure and we truly appreciate any support you can provide.
