Climbing High for Semper Fi Campaign

Bernardsville, NJ – On February 23, 1945 an historic picture was taken depicting five United States Marines and a United States Navy Corpsman raising an American flag atop Mount Suribachi, during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II. February 23, 2015 will be the 70th anniversary of this memorable act in United States history.

To commemorate this moment, Excel Fitness Center and FoleyCAT will be hosting the 2nd “Climb High For Semper Fi” fundraising event. This event will take place at 10:00am at Excel Fitness Center on Saturday February 21, 2015.

Mark Neilan and Team Excel Fitness Center – Excel’s staff will be climbing on a Jacobs Ladder to raise money for the Semper Fi Fund. They are going to have two teams: one team will be just Excel’s owner, Mark Neilan, and the other team will be made up of 7 people. The challenge will be to see if Mark can climb more feet in 60 minutes on the Jacobs Ladder then the team of 7 can do in 70 minutes.

Mark will be on the ladder for 60 continuous minutes while they each will do approximately 10 minute intervals. Supporters can make flat donations or can pledge based on how many total feet are climbed by a team, an individual, or the overall group, or they can be creative in their donation.
