Caspar Placke’s Eagle Scout Project
Jun 1, 2014 - Jun 28, 2014
Castle Rock, CO – Caspar Placke’s Eagle Scout Project is a detailed plan to raise funds for the Semper Fi Fund with a goal of $12,500, which is the cost of an Action Track Chair. Also, part of his project is to share the Semper Fi Fund mission and to remind everyone of the continuing needs of our wounded, injured, and ill Service Members. He has coordinated his efforts with the Castle Rock Economic Development Council, the Castle Rock Town Council, and the race organizers for the Castle Rock Half Marathon.
Here is a link to his Facebook page for more details – Scouts for Wounded Veterans and a wonderful article about Caspar – Castle Pines Connection Article.
In addition to fundraising, Caspar has also organized a group of ten Scouts to compete in the Castle Rock Half Marathon. He was able to arrange several training sessions with Britton Colquitt who is the punter for the AFC Champion Denver Broncos. These Scouts will wear Semper Fi Fund shirts when competing. During the race, Caspar will have volunteers handing out information about the Semper Fi Fund and providing support for the competitors.
Here are some details about the Castle Rock Half Marathon:
Castle Rock Half Marathon starts downtown before retreating to the East Plum Creek Trail for a shady run by the creek. The half marathon is a scenic run with nominal elevation gains and losses. Most of the distance runs along the serene untouched open space along Plum Creek. Another option is to run the shorter 5-mile race which follows the best parts of the half marathon but cuts the distance. The Rock Challenge is for adventurous runners. This race adds the steep ascent and descent of our iconic Town monument, the Rock.
The Town of Castle Rock has graciously included the details of Caspar’s fundraising efforts on the Castle Rock Event Page. Registration is open until Friday, June 27, 2014.
