California Roundup 2015
Jun 5, 2015 - Jun 10, 2015
Mountain Center, CA – The Jinx McCain Horsemanship Program will host riders in a basic horsemanship and cowboy skills clinic at two southern California ranches—the Pathfinder Ranch in Mountain Center and the San Pasquel Valley Ranch in San Pasquel, CA.
This clinic will be four days long with the first two days conducting basic horsemanship skill training and mountain trail riding in the high mountain meadows and trails at Pathfinder Ranch. We’ll even conduct the ranch’s high ropes course after riding one of the days, which is sure to build confidence and team building as we negotiate the ropes 30’ in the air.
On day 3 and 4, will move down the mountain to the San Pasquel Ranch to work on cowboy skills training using the ranch’s cow horses and cattle. The two days spent at San Pasquel will be a great continuation of skills learned at the Dixie Challenge and excellent primer for those planning to attend the Double Rafter Cattle Drive in July.
This clinic is open to 12 wounded, ill, or injured service members, veterans, and their spouses — no prior horse riding experience required.
Where:
Pathfinder Ranch in Mountain Center, CA (http://pathfinderranch.com).
We’ll stay in the ranch’s bunk house and eat in its dining hall or around the camp fire all days of the clinic. This is an absolutely gorgeous place and will remind participants of being in the Colorado Rockies. This ranch normally operates as a kid’s outdoor education camp, but we’ll have it all to ourselves during this clinic. They have a string of riding horses and a great outdoor setting that is sure to please all participants.
San Pasquel Valley Ranch, San Pasquel, CA (http://www.sanpasqualvalleyranch.com).
We’ve used this facility many times in the past and is a favorite for our riders. Many of you have rode, roped, and sorted here in our Cowboy Challenges of the past.
When:
5 June: travel day to Pathfinder Ranch in Mountain Center, CA—participants will drive their POVs to the ranch or fly into either Palm Springs or San Diego for transport to the ranch depending on cheapest airfare.
