Big Bend Ranch Roundup
June 1, 2018 - June 7, 2018
We’ll bring 12 of our JMHP riders to Alpine, TX, located in the Davis Mountains of West Texas, for 5 fun filled days of horsemanship and cowboying on the famed 06 Ranch. We’ll stay at the Girl Scout’s Camp Mite Peak located in a wonderful canyon with rocky walls and cabins nestled along the creek bed. The first two days of training will involve horsemanship and cow working skill training at our sponsor’s arena in Alpine. From 4-6 June, we’ll all cowboy together on the legendary west Texas 06 Ranch helping the cowboys and ranch owner gather his cattle, separate the “dry cows,” and brand those calves missed during the ranch’s spring works. The 06 Ranch is supplying its ranch horses for the entire clinic. If time permits, we’ll even do a leather working project under the guidance of Big Bend Saddlery’s top craftsmen. This promises to be an incredible opportunity for our riders to meet, fellowship, and advance their horsemanship skills in the arena and an historic cattle ranch in “America’s Outback.”
Open to: 12 JMHP riders—no previous riding experience required.
