Semper Fi Fund Assists Female Veterans with Recovery in Inaugural All Women’s Outdoor Adventure Camp
Team Semper Fi Female Athletes Challenge Themselves with Three-Day Outdoor Adventure Camp
Who: Ten service women from the Semper Fi Fund’s Team Semper Fi Program will be rock climbing, mountain biking and learning flatwater sports with instruction from Adaptive Sports Center, as they power through new challenges as part of their recovery.
WHAT: Semper Fi Fund and Adaptive Sports Center team up for the inaugural all women’s outdoor adventure camp to highlight service women in the recovery power of the outdoors and the many opportunities it provides for healing, both physically and mentally. The women will spend three days fostering an environment of enablement, building a support system with each other and advance their individual skills in the idyllic setting of Crested Butte, Colorado.

September 16: 9:15am–3:00pm Mountain biking Mount Crested Butte
September 17: 9:15am–3:00pm Flatwater sports and outdoor yoga at Lake Irwin

WHY: “Recovery Through Sport” has proven to be an ideal outlet for injured service members to hone both physical agility and mental focus, skills that are critical to navigating their recovery. Learning and practicing alongside fellow wounded service members they can also trade stories, share strategies for coping with their injuries, and forge lasting friendships.
