National Ability Center and Semper Fi Fund Partner for Recovering Veterans All-Abilities Mountain Bike Camp August 31–September 2, 2017

Team Semper Fi Athletes Take on Utah Terrain and Deer Valley Downhill

WHO: Twenty-four service members from the Semper Fi Fund’s Team Semper Fi Program continue recovery by learning and enhancing their mountain bike skills on some of the best trails in the country.

“Mountain biking offers recovering service members a mental and physical challenge with a balance of fun riding, beautiful scenery and land conservation awareness” said Sam Tickle, associate director, Team Semper Fi.

WHAT: Semper Fi Fund’s fourth annual all-abilities mountain bike camp hosted with the National Ability Center to take on the exhilarating Utah terrain for a three-day adventure through Park City. This marks the third partnership event between SFF and NAC for 2017; the sun of all three events will positively impacting nearly 200 service members. Recovering athletes of all skill levels will improve on their mountain biking technique and for some develop a new physical outlet to aid in their recovery.

WHEN: August 31– September 2, 2017

            August 31: 9:00am–12:00pm National Ability Center, 1:30–4:30pm Trailside Bike Park

            September 1: 8:30am–10:30pm sled hockey intro, 2:00–5:00pm Round Valley trail complex

            September 2: 10:15am–3:00pm Deer Valley (lift-served mountain biking)

WHY: “Recovery Through Sport” gives service members an opportunity to experience the exquisite outdoors of Utah as they embark on new adventures that build endurance and strengthen camaraderie. Mountain biking offers the service members an exhilarating and challenging task to take on that will leave them feeling confident.
