Rick Hermelin’s “100 Days for the Corps”

Rick Hermlin rides for Semper Fi Fund

Rick Hermelin is traveling on an ElliptiGO coast to coast for 100 days, covering 3,000 miles to raise support for the Semper Fi Fund.

He will start his trek at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island on March 23, 2012. He chose March 23 as his start date because that is the date he started in the Marine Corps in 1959. He will be celebrating the good influence the Marine Corps has had on his life all these years.

Rick will ride between 30-50 miles a day for 100 days and is hoping to complete his run on June 30th at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego.

Seventy-one-year-old former Marine Rick Hermelin will begin his coast-to-coast journey on an ElliptiGO bike to raise money for the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund on Friday, March 23.

On Friday, March 23, former Marine Rick Hermelin will head out on his elliptical bike from South Carolina — and just keep going. Hermelin, 71, plans to ride cross the country, reaching San Diego in 100 days. Minus food, which he’ll buy along the way, he’ll carry everything he needs in a small backpack.

He’s raising money for the Semper Fi Fund, which supports injured and ill troops. “You just get started to push off and then it’s just keep moving,” he says.
