5th Annual Sgt Michael Heede Jr Memorial Walk/Run

Fawn Grove, PA – On May 3, 2014 the 3rd Annual Sgt Michael Heede Jr Memorial Walk/Run will be held at Kennard-Dale High School in Fawn Grove, PA.

Join the community as they remember and honor Marine Sgt Michael Heede Jr. who was killed while serving in Afghanistan.

Michael, a veteran of the Iraq war, volunteered for deployment to Afghanistan and was assigned to the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force. He was one of two Marines killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) on July 13, 2009. During his military career, he was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and a Navy Unit Commendation Medal, among other honors.

Michael graduated from Kennard-Dale High School where he was on the cross-country team. The 5K run will be on the scenic cross-country course and the 1 mile walk will be on a paved track. The run/walk will start at 8:30 am and end at 1:00pm.
