Semper Fi Fund Kids Camp 2011
Jul 10, 2011 - Jul 16, 2011
A Week of Growth Through Adventure
Unfortunately, the stress experienced by the child of an injured service member is sometimes overlooked. The child must handle challenges and adversities that someone their age should not have to face alone. We hope to alleviate this stress by providing a week of growth through adventure!
During the week, campers are matched up with motivated high school student mentors that have the shared experience of growing up with a military parent. Together they will not only build confidence through activities such as conquering a climbing wall, but also develop tools to be successful in school and life.
Semper Fi Fund Kids Camp campers and mentors will strive to achieve success not only while at camp, but in life as well. Our goal is to instill a principle-centered life. Our leadership and coping principles and philosophies are wrapped around every activity, giving campers a real-life takeaway as they return home.
Kids Camp Mission:
The Semper Fi Fund hopes to engage the children of injured service members and provide them with unique activities and challenges, where they will experience success as an individual and as a member of a team. Activities will facilitate bonding of youth with a mentor who will serve as the focal point for follow-on support during the school year.
Sometimes a single experience can define a lifetime.
Semper Fi Fund Kids Camp is completely free to children of service members eligible for assistance from the Fund. All costs, including transportation, are included. The 2011 camp is scheduled for July 10-16.
