Soldier. Husband. Patriot. Entrepreneur.
Sergeant Salvador Trujillo answered the call to service when his country needed him most.
“As an immigrant, this country has given me the opportunity to have a successful life, so I wanted to give back serving in a needed time of war,” he said.
While deployed to Iraq, he suffered second and third degree burns on over 40% of his body when his vehicle hit a roadside bomb during a night mission to support fellow Soldiers. During his initial recovery, Salvador was put in contact with Semper Fi & America’s Fund and was provided with immediate and lasting assistance throughout multiple surgeries and years of rehabilitation.
“The Fund is one of the best organizations a veteran could have,” he said. “Their mission is to help in any way they can, and they do help. It’s usually when we need them the most that veterans ask for help, and they do everything within their power to make sure we are okay and safe with our families.”
With his loving wife, Brittnay, by his side, Salvador hopes to start his own trucking company and become a fishing guide in his beautiful home state of Oregon — his future limitless and bright.
“My life is 100% better having The Fund in my family’s life, and I know if I need help with anything, all I have to do is reach out to my case manager,” said Salvador. “Thank you, Semper Fi & America’s Fund, for being my hero.”
