Semper Fi & America’s Fund (“The Fund”) is concerned about the privacy of our grant recipients and our donors. We have created this Privacy Policy to explain our practices with respect to the personal information we collect both online (through our website, www.thefund.org (the “Site”) and offline. Information Collected

The Fund may collect various types of personal information, including, without limitation, name; physical address; email address; telephone number; cell phone number; credit card number and expiration date; the name of the individual honored, memorialized, or referenced through a donation; donor names; grant recipient names; injury type; and other information that may be necessary to assess injured service members’ needs. We may collect this information from Site visitors if they (1) make an online donation; (2) contact us by email seeking further information about our services; or (3) contact us by email to take part in one of our events or to host a fundraiser. We may also collect this information from offline sources, including: (1) information we receive from visitors when they call us; (2) donations and donation forms that we receive by mail; (3) information provided by grant applications for assistance; (4) interviews with injured service members, their family members, their command, and/or hospital staff; (5) donor lists from fund-raising events; and (6) updated contact and other information about our Site visitors, injured service members, and supporters that we may receive from third parties. We may combine information collected online with information that we collect from offline sources. When you provide information to The Fund, you impliedly consent to the terms of this privacy policy. Use of Information

The Fund may use the information it collects for any of the following purposes, without limitation: (1) to further The Fund’s mission to provide financial grants and other assistance to combat wounded, ill, and injured Service Members and their families; (2) to send checks to grant recipients; (3) to send correspondence and other documents including, but not limited to, thank you notes, In Honor Of / In Memory Of Certificates, Support Certificates, tax receipts, newsletters, and information about The Fund; (4) to provide a list of donors to the family of a deceased service member, in whose memory a donation was made, so that the family can acknowledge the donation; and (5) to contact grant recipients and donors when necessary; (6) publishing lists of donors and/or recipients.

Disclosure of Information

We do not share, sell, or exchange donor’s information for third party’s fundraising or marketing purposes. Phone numbers and SMS/Text consent will never be shared with 3rd parties or affiliates under any circumstances. The Fund may disclose the information it collects for the following purposes: (1) to our employees, volunteers, independent contractors, consultants, business associates, service providers, suppliers, donors, donation recipients, and credit companies if the disclosure will enable that party to perform a business, professional, or technical support function for us; (2) as necessary if we have reason to believe that such disclosure is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with our rights and property, users of our Site, or anyone else who could be harmed by such activities; (3) to respond to judicial process and provide information to law enforcement agencies or in connection with an investigation on matters related to public safety, as permitted by law, or otherwise as required by law; and (4) in the event that The Fund or any of its assets are acquired by a third party.

Children

The Fund does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

There may be times when we need to revise this Privacy Policy, and we reserve the right to do so at our discretion. If we change our Privacy Policy, we will post those changes on the Web site. The revised terms will be effective immediately and your continued use of the site will constitute acceptance by you of the new terms. We recommend that you revisit this Privacy Policy periodically to ensure that you are aware of our current privacy practices.

Security

The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as credit card number and/or social security number) on The Fund’s site or otherwise provide such information to The Fund, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL), or securely store or destroy after entry of such information into electronic form, any hard copies of such information.
We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect the personal information we collect. We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. No method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, or secure storage of hard copies is 100% secure, however.
