New Mexico Roundup

This historic McKinley Ranch owners Marc and Donne (yes, wife Donne’s dad wanted a boy) have invited us to help with their spring branding on their 120,000-acre ranch near Socorro, NM. Each day JMHP riders will get up before dawn , catch and saddle their horses, ride out to a different section of the ranch to gather, sort, and brand calves alongside the family members. At night when the work is done, we’ll gather around a 150-year-old restored chuckwagon for grub and cowboy entertainment by special guest and cook and singer Doug Roberts. This is the real deal – we’ll do everything the way its been done on the ranch for over a hundred years, to include sleeping around the fire in cowboy bedrolls with a saddle for a pillow and the vast New Mexico skies to watch instead of television. Each day you’ll be part of a team of veterans and cowboys actively gathering, sorting, roping and dragging, and branding calves. This will be real physical work that is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face along with a happy heart knowing you played a key role in this timeless American tradition.
