The “Ride The Thunder” movie will open the eyes of many Americans to what happened in Vietnam. This uplifting movie displays the honor and triumph that has been hidden from the American public for over 4 decades.
“Ride The Thunder” is a story of the Vietnam war as told by the American and South Vietnamese veterans who fought the battles. Using historical footage and interviews with hundreds of Vietnam Veterans, Ride The Thunder Productions, in association with Koster Films, has put together a movie that will change the way we remember the Vietnam War.
As former President Richard Nixon said, “No event in history is more misunderstood than the Vietnam War. It was misreported then. It is misremembered now.”
This movie is based on the book “Ride The Thunder” by Richard Botkin. The story follows South Vietnamese Marine Lieutenant Colonel Le Ba Binh as he fights side-by-side with the Americans and his best friend, US Marine Colonel John Ripley, against the communists.
The true-life accounts continue as John Ripley returns to the United States only to be shunned and condemned for his involvement in the war. Through his secretly kept diary, the story recounts Le Ba Binh’s 11 years internment in a re-education camp.
The story of the warriors is set on the backdrop of their love stories, the struggles both Ripley and Binh’s wives faced dealing with their husbands fighting in the war and then returning home as changed men.
