Gathering in Community

The holiest moment of the church service is the moment when God’s people—strengthened by preaching and sacrament—go out of the church door into the world to be the church. We don’t go to church; we are the church.

Canon Ernest Southcott

FTE believes that community is nurtured both in and outside the walls of the church. Our events convene tomorrow’s leaders, those who teach them and the communities that call them. Through these gatherings, FTE facilitates an environment of mutual support and inspiration. Emerging leaders recognize that their peers wrestle with questions and concerns similar to their own, and they develop new skills and insights to affirm and broaden the way they envision their calling. Next steps in their vocational exploration become actionable, and these young leaders go forth well equipped to pursue leadership opportunities and do God’s work in the world.

Young Adults & Students

FTE hosts the national Christian Leadership Forum each summer for diverse young adults, students, scholars and church leaders to explore vocational questions about ministry and teaching, exchange ideas and connect with a community of peers. Along with leaders from a cross-section of FTE partner organizations, eighty (80) diverse young adults will have opportunities to network, engage in practices of vocational discernment, build their capacity for practical ministry and explore pastoral leadership.
